Hip Hop Resurrection Part 5

This is the final track that I pulled off of one of my favorite mixtapes. Again, I am not certain who the group name is or even the song title but this one takes me back.

While working at Indiana Beach, an old friend of mine was approached by a group of guys ( possibly from the Chicago area ) and handed him a tape with this demo on it. Although the lyrics are explicit, the Daryl Hall & John Oates – ” I Can’t Go For That” beat makes it smooth as hell.

Not many of you have probably even heard this one, but it has stuck with me throughout the years.

This will conclude this group of Hip Hop Resurrections but if you want more of this past mixtape goodness, I need to hear from you!

This one didn’t get too popular but the flow on this was SICK on the popular Whodini Friends beat.

This is another one of my favorites and I remember going nuts when I heard this drop on a mixtape.  Are you going down memory lane with me yet?

Here’s another treasure that I found on an old mix tape. Just like the previous video, I’m not sure the name of the track but its a goody.   I do know that its a blend as you can hear beats from Whodini’s Friends and BIG’s One More Chance remix.

Wait for the drop at 0:58!

Hip Hop Resurrection Part 1

True hip hop is dead and it will never be the same.  With the help of today’s technology,  I am attempting to dig some of it back up and breath life back into hip hop.

I’ve recently discovered some of my old and favorite mix tapes that I once loved back in the early 90′s.  I got my hands on one of those old carry along tape decks, an audio cord and plugged it into my line in jack on my PC’s sound card.  Let the re-recording begin!

Part one begins with one of my favorite tracks by Flipmode Squad’s very own Rampage.  I do not know what the title of the track is but its a true classic in my mind.

Cobwebs, dust and dents. I found my old mixer laying around and thought it would be a good idea to snap a photo of it.  This is what I first started out using many moons ago.  Ahhh, the memories!
